Following the retirement of long-time Pennsylvania Chief Information Officer George White, Governor Corbett appointed Tony Encinias to the position.

Encinias previously served as Chief Technology Officer for the commonwealth, a position he held since 2008. He has over 20 years as a United States Naval Officer, with over 20 years’ experience in information technology management with the Department of Defense and state government. During Tony’s military career, he served as the Relational Supply Application Program manager for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and as the Deputy Director for Innovation in the eBusiness Operations Office for the Department of the Navy, Chief Information Officer. In his final military assignment, he served dual roles as the SAS 70 Program Director with the Defense Information Systems Agency and as the Executive Officer of the Defense Enterprise Computing Center, Mechanicsburg.

Encinias earned a Master’s of Science degree in Information Technology Management from the United States Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Colorado, and he received a Federal CIO Certification through Carnegie Mellon University.
