The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) kicks off its Summer Committee meeting this morning in Dallas, Texas. NARUC is the national association representing the state PUC Commissioners throughout the county. Leading off the meeting, FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, Acting Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chair Cheryl LaFleur, Chair Donna Nelson of the Texas Commission, Duke Energy CEO Lynn Good and American Water CEO Susan Story will discuss the most pressing challenges facing the utility industry today (extreme weather, physical security; cybersecurity; natural disasters) and how they are managing and responding. It’s great to see these women in positions of energy leadership and hear their perspectives!
In addition to the distinguished panel discussion during the General Session, the Honorable Gina McCarthy, Administrator of the United State EPA, will give a special address. This morning will also include the first meeting of the NARUC Water Committee. The 10:30 a.m. (Central Time) meeting will be chaired by Pennsylvania’s very own PUC Chairman, Rob Powelson.
