Session for the House and Senate resumes this Monday.  The House will start the week off Monday morning with a Judiciary Committee which will focus on drug courts and the heroin crisis, followed by a Human Services Committee public hearing on the intellectual disabilities waiting list, and finally a Commerce Committee informational meeting on City Revitalization and Improvement Zones.

When the House session convenes at 1 pm Monday afternoon, it is expected to consider a bill to fund child advocacy centers on concurrence.  On second consideration is a package of firearm-related bills.  Tuesday expect to see a State Government Committee public hearing on a resolution to encourage SERS and PSERS to utilize new investment technology.  When session convenes at 11 am, H.B. 1684, an oil and gas lease royalties bill is posted for second consideration.  Wednesday includes a voting meeting for Tourism and Recreational  Development Committee on a bill amending the Tax Reform Code related to the Film Tax Credit and an Insurance Committee informational meeting to discuss amendments to MCARE.  On Wednesday, the House is also scheduled for a voting session.

The Senate is likely to swear in its newest member this week, Scott Wagner (R-28th) , who replaces Senator Mike Waugh.  In regards to session the Senate, session convenes at one o’clock Monday, but will break for an Agriculture and Rural Affairs meeting to consider Senate Bill 1188, a bill which will transfer the Horse Racing Commission from being housed within the Department of Agriculture to the Gaming Control Board.  On Tuesday, expect a Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee public hearing on variable rates and a Judiciary Committee public hearing on indigent defense, before the Senate convenes at one o’clock.  The Senate will also hold a voting session on Wednesday.
