Governor Corbett today released Pennsylvania’s first state energy plan. The plan, entitled Energy=Jobs, strategically outlines the governor’s plan to embrace Pennsylvania energy markets to continue industry development and job creation.

The 73-page plan and website will provide information about the state’s energy-related resources and programs, which will be utilized to create and retain jobs and increase the state’s competitiveness. It also seeks to protect and restore the environment and move toward energy independence.

With today’s announcement, the Governor fulfills his commitment to craft a plan that harnesses the Commonwealth’s diverse energy portfolio.  The statewide policy initiative was also a key recommendation of Governor Corbett’s Manufacturing Advisory Council.

The governor says the plan includes an “All of the Above and Below” approach, which refers to Pennsylvania’s diverse range of resources including solar, wind, oil, coal, nuclear, natural gas and more. Core concepts detailed in the plan include embracing free markets; recognizing that domestically produced energy is more affordable energy for consumers; continuing a commitment to protecting the environment while growing the economy; and understanding that energy independence leads to security.
