On Tuesday, February 6, Governor Corbett unveiled his FY 2013-2014 budget proposal. Now begins the legislative process of conducting hearings, debating, negotiating and accepting proposals, and eventually agreeing upon a final budget. The statutory deadline for the completion of the budget is midnight, June 30.

In his remarks to the General Assembly, Governor Corbett focused on education, transportation, healthcare, welfare, agriculture, public safety and jobs. According to the governor, his $28.4 billion budget plan will require pension reform and the privatization of the state store system.
